Ward Soil Conservation District

Working with Rural and Urban Communities to Conserve

2025 Achievement Winner

The Ward Soil Conservation District is proud to have chosen Christopher Rockeman and Paige Brummond as our 2025 achievement winners. Chris & Paige ranch in Ward, Burke, and Mountrail counties and are headquartered southwest of Donnybrook, ND. When expanding their livestock feeding operation, they identified the need to protect the Des Lacs River from waste runoff and developed a Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan in 2009. In 2010, an Ag. Waste System was installed, further protecting the natural resources around them while enhancing their operation. Then, they implemented a prescribed grazing system over their rangeland ensuring proper grazing use when rotating through pastures. They have also used cover crops in their operation as well as planted numerous feet of trees and shrubs over the years for livestock and farmstead protection. Chris and Paige’s proactive approach to conservation is why Ward Soil Conservation District is proud to have chosen them as 2025 recipients of the Achievement Award.
